London Craft Week 2017: Experiments - Work from Young Craftsmen of ChinaLondon Craft Week 2017: Experiments - Work from Young Craftsmen of China
Event / 3 May 2017

As part of the London Craft Week 2017, China Design Centre and the Pottery Workshop work togahter again to bring 15 young craftmakers here to present contemporay works inspired by Chinese tradition.

While many people think of China’s craft as silk scarfs, blue and white porcelain and carving with bamboo and wood, little do they know what its young artisans are up to these days. This exhibition shows how these artisans are keeping their craft alive while making work that reaches beyond tradition. Contemporary performances with handmade leather shadow puppets, crossover in ceramics, and combining 3D print design technology with handcraft ceramics will be part of this exhibition.
